Our Organization
With Integrity at our core—
We uphold what is fundamentally right,
both in society and within our company.

Would you feel comfortable showing your words and actions to your family?
Could you speak about them openly with your partner?
This is the question we continually ask ourselves and one another as we go about our work.
Pursuing corporate profit and upholding "integrity" as individuals can sometimes be at odds. As a private enterprise, profitability is vital—but no level of profit justifies wrongdoing or causing significant harm to others.
We believe that maintaining "integrity" in both economic and social dimensions is essential for any company seeking to thrive in the 21st century. While compliance regulations have grown stricter, rules alone are not enough. True integrity means acting with self-awareness and doing what is right—simply because it is the right thing to do.
That's why we use this question as a compass:
"Would I be proud to show this to my family or share it with my partner?"
The same principle applies internally. In closed environments, inappropriate behavior can sometimes go unchecked. What may seem "normal" within an organization could, by broader societal standards, be considered harassment or misconduct.
Again, we rely on the same grounding perspective—"the eyes of our family and loved ones".
When in doubt, we return to the simple, human standards of decency and integrity.
We believe that this, above all, is what truly matters.
Before you act, ask yourself:
- Can I take pride in this action?
- How would others perceive it?
- Does it comply with laws, regulations, corporate ethics, and societal norms?
At our company, we actively encourage internal reporting and have established multiple consultation channels—including a direct line to the President. These resources are designed to support employees in seeking guidance or raising concerns about actions and decisions in the workplace.
Our goal is to create a culture where everyone feels empowered to reflect, ask questions, and make decisions together with leadership.
We believe that a firm commitment to Integrity is one of the most important values we uphold as an organization.
Greetings

MS Energia was established in 1996 under the name *Mitsui Bussan Carbon Energy Co., Ltd.*, as a spin-off from Mitsui & Co., Ltd. in partnership with Chichibu Onoda Co., Ltd. (now Taiheiyo Cement Corporation). Our goal was to provide highly specialized services through coal supply to customers in the general industrial sector, particularly in the cement, chemical, and paper industries.
In 2001, we integrated Sumitomo Corporation’s coal supply business for the general industrial sector and changed our name to *Bussan Sumisho Carbon Energy Corporation*. Thanks to the continued support of our valued clients, we are now approaching our 30th anniversary.
Today, in addition to thermal coal, we are expanding our portfolio to support the global shift toward decarbonization. We now handle a growing range of biomass fuels, including palm kernel shells, pistachio shells, cashew nut shells, and tire chips. To meet diverse customer needs, we also offer flexible supply solutions, combining domestic and international inventory management with small-lot logistics services.
Until 2022, nearly half of our coal volume was sourced from Russia. However, due to the geopolitical impact of the invasion of Ukraine, we have diversified our procurement by starting imports from South Africa and Colombia. In parallel, we launched new logistics functions utilizing transshipment hubs in China and South Korea.
As lifestyles, economic systems, technologies, and business models continue to evolve at an accelerating pace, the industries surrounding us are undergoing a significant transformation.
In this changing landscape, we embrace our mission: *“To create a future full of light and realize prosperity and dreams for people.”*
To fulfill this mission, we have set our long-term vision as: *“Solving social challenges through the stable supply of energy resources and the advancement of carbon neutrality.”*
uided by our core values—*Passion*, *Diversity*, *Sincerity and Integrity*, and *Challenge & Change*—we remain committed to adapting, growing, and delivering solutions that meet the evolving expectations of our clients.
We will continue to stand by our customers, respond sincerely to their diverse needs, and take on new challenges to contribute to the growth and development of the general industrial sector.
